Structured Launches Service to Erase ‘Infrastructure Debt,’ Boost ROI

Ruth Walters, promoted to vice president of strategic projects and services at Structured, will lead this initiative to help customers derive more benefit from their foundational IT investments.

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 6, 2026) – Structured, a leading provider of secure professional and managed IT services, has developed a new managed services offering to help customers with an age-old, persistent pain point: underutilization of their enterprise technology platforms.

Due to complexity, staffing deficits, or simply adequate time, few mid-size companies fully optimize and proactively manage the myriad features and capabilities inherent in their data management and protection technologies. This leads to a kind of technical debt known as “infrastructure debt” – where the owned assets are not delivering the promised or expected results that drove the initial purchase decision.

With Enterprise Platform Managed Services (EPMS), Structured is on a mission to change that.

“Our clients have been very clear that developing a resilient enterprise IT platform that supports strong security and performance is their key metric,” said Ruth Walters, vice president of strategic projects and services at Structured.

As vendors increasingly release bundled platform suites, there is greater opportunity to improve resilience and security. However, the challenge is that these deployments often must roll out in phases, not all at once. A planned and steady project timeline is required to maximize optimization and minimize disruption.

“Small to mid-enterprise clients may not have the capability or the capacity to continue developing their environment past initial deployment,” Walters explained. “Structured specifically designed this service to assist clients in gaining a larger ROI from dollars already spent.”

Customers who have not gotten maximum value from their virtualization, data protection, or end-user computing platforms are ideal candidates for these services, which include strategic lifecycle planning; proactive optimization, monitoring, and patch management; feature deployment and capability enablement; and 24x7x365 Tier 4 support for critical issues.

The immediate benefit is, of course, the return on investment customers can expect to receive when they are fully utilizing all the features and capabilities inherent in their technology platforms – features and capabilities that are almost always included in the initial purchase or ongoing subscription price.

Over time, other benefits unfold, including increased security and stability of the infrastructure, faster application adoption through automation and streamlined operations, reduced burden on the internal IT team, and more strategic clarity.

Further, by categorizing this work as a managed service instead of a fixed-scope project, customers can treat this as an operational expenditure, simplifying procurement and adding budget predictability in the process.

“We are excited to add these innovative, vital managed services to our portfolio,” said Garth Brown, managing director of cloud and managed services at Structured. “As a Tier 4-centric service, EPMS will bridge that common gap between the promise of an enterprise technology purchase and the actualization of its intended business value.”

Critically, EPMS was intentionally designed to provide senior engineering and IT leadership expertise for mid-sized companies where it is hard to find or retain internal staff for those roles. This experience gap can often cause a serious strategic misalignment and unmet expectations across the organization. Frequently, this is due to a disconnect in communication between front-line IT engineers who are dealing with the IT infrastructure’s day-to-day technical requirements and senior business leadership outside of IT who understand that technology underpins outcomes but are not as knowledgeable about the infrastructure’s intricacies.

“By working seamlessly with internal teams and engaging directly with leadership, Structured acts as a trusted extension of the organization, ensuring every phase of an enterprise platform rollout aligns with our client’s business goals,” said Walters. “Whether we are working with a system administrator in the data center or a CEO at corporate, we can understand and articulate the needs of each to help the company thrive.”
